Conversations, negotiations, and extensions.... OH MY!

The NFL and the NFLPA announced that they are extending the negotiations thru March 11th.

This is great for all parties. It seems that the Armageddon scenario may be averted after all. Not that I ever doubted that there will be football next season.

Professional football is just way too popular in America for a lock-out to happen. Players, owners, hot dog vendors... everyone would lose face with the millions of Americans who live for Sunday afternoons in the fall and...this game. Never mind all of the advertisers, broadcasters, memorabilia producers and retailers. This cash cow is just WAY too big to have any kind of "work stoppage," missed games, annoyed and disgruntled fans. Football is too big of an industry. Ask the MLB what that feels likes! I bet you a dollar it would tell the NFL to man-up and get this deal done before any type of fallout happens.

On the other hand, if this all went South and there were missed games and ANY type of money loss, the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell and NFL Players Association Executive Director, DeMaurice Smith would have their "legacy" tarnished with being unable to resolve the issues....

So now... we sit and wait. They have another week to work things out, or... announce a 3rd extension. Hang in there readers... we WILL get there.

In the MLB, spring training is going well. I personally have been impressed with how the Tigers have been playing. 6-4 is a good record for where we are so far.

Are you ready for March Madness? No? Well you better get on the horse there cowboy because it's coming! Quick too! Selection Sunday is 7 days away. Some very interesting things are happening in the Big Ten. Iowa beat Purdue yesterday and that's a big problem for the Boilermakers as it may knock them out of a one seed. Michigan beat MSU yesterday and that could get the Wolverines in the back door to the Big Dance. Strap on your seat belts fans, it's going to be Madness this year... again.

Have a great Sunday everyone!
